Why Eat halal…

The term Halal means permissible or permitted in English and the term haram is the direct opposite. When selecting food, Muslims are expected to eat halal and abstain from haram. Now the question is, why should a non-Muslim eat halal?? In our society today, there are rising concerns on the treatment of animals. This includes the slaughtering of the animal. Just imagine the pain an animal endures when it is shot by an arrow or any other means. But hey, who cares!!! Most people believe that once an animal is shot, it dies at that instant. According to a British study, 11 percent of animals hunted had to be shot more than once and that some wounded suffered for more than 15 minutes before dying. Another study explained that some wounded animals escape. But they are still wounded!!! The Zabihah way of slaughtering offers a solution. This way of slaughtering severs the animals nerve connected to the brain reliving the animal of all it pains.  If you do care about how an animal is treated, this reason should suffice. A scientific research was conducted by a team at the university of Hannover in Germany. They used 2 samples. One sample was slaughtered using a knife cutting the jugular veins and carotid arteries. The second sample was stunned using a pistol. The EEG and ECG where used to monitor the condition of the brain and the heart throughout. the results of the first sample showed constant EEG for the first 3 seconds. This makes sense because even when we get a cut, we always feel it after some time elapsed. 3 seconds later the animals went into a deep sleep unconsciousness. Thereafter, the EEG showed zero indicating no pain at all. At this point the heart of the animal is still beating and the animal is moving vigorously because the spinal cord is still intact. This is part where people think the animal is in pain, however the animal feels nothing because it is brain dead. The results of the second sample showed that although the animal was unconscious, there was a spike in the EEG indicating the animal was going enduring immense pain. The reason the animal does not seem to move is because there is still blood retention in the meat. Although the stunning way stops the heart of the animal, it fails to stop the brain, giving the animal a painful death. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Schulze
